Tatts Tiara preview
The Tatts Tiara is a Group 1 weight-for-age race for fillies & mares that takes place annually in June at Eagle Farm racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres and worth $500,000 in prize money. The 2019 Winter Stakes was won by Invincibella from Pohutukawa with Savatiano third.
Known previously as the 'Winter Stakes', it's the final Group 1 race of the Brisbane winter racing carnival. The Group 3 Tattersall's Cup and Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes are held on the same day.
This race was held at Doomben racecourse for the 2017-2018 season.

The Tatts Tiara is a good quality race for fillies & mares only and the weight-for-age race conditions provide a distinct advantage to the better performed females contesting the event. More often than not the best filly or mare will greet the judge in first place.
Some classy mares have won the Tatts Tiara over the years including the likes of Red Tracer (2013), Melito (2010), Dane Ripper (1997), Tripping (1996) and Mamzelle Pedrille (1995).
Any female gallopers who contested the Gr3 Lady Of The Turf Stakes or Gr2 Dane Ripper Quality earlier in the carnival are most likely to go on and tackle this race, as they are both run under similar conditions for fillies & mares only. In recent times Invincibella (2019), Red Tracer (2013) and Cosmic Endeavour (2014) all captured the Dane Ripper Quality & Tatts Tiara double.
Invincibella (2019) took out the Dane Ripper Quality over 1400m at Eagle Farm before proving too classy for her rivals in this event for trainer Chris Waller.
Recent Winter Stakes winners include Prompt Response (2018) and Tycoon Tara (2017).
