The Bobbie Lewis Quality is a good class sprint race for this time of the year and most of the time assembles a field of more than handy sprinters. It's run down the Flemington 'Straight Six' 1200m course and typically suits horses with an affinity for the straight track.
The race has been won by some quality types over the years including Swift Alliance (2009), Titanic Jack (2003), La Zagaletta (1999), Hareeba (1994) and the brilliant Placid Ark(1988).
Horses contesting the Bobbie Lewis Quality may go on to a race like the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield later in the month, just as Toorak Toff (5th in 2011) did, winning the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes after running fifth in this race.
Zoutori (2019) resumed from a Queensland campaign to win this event in impressive fashion for Flemington based training duo Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra.

Spring Carnival Guide
Speediness (2nd in 2013) went on to run second in the Gr2 Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day before running third in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington on the final day of the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival.
We're Gonna Rock (2012) finished runner-up in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield before running third behind Sea Siren in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Spirit Of Boom (2nd in 2012) had a solid spring campaign finishing 3rd in the Gr2 Gilgai Stakes and second in the Gr2 Linlithgow Stakes, both at Flemington, before heading to Perth to run third in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes.
Prioer to that, Lone Rock (2011) finished third in the Gr3 How Now Stakes at Caulfield and Toorak Toff (5th in 2011) claimed the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes before running third in the Gr3 Chatham Stakes at Flemington.
Gold Salute (2nd in 2009) ran placings in both the Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield and Group 1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington after a second placing in this race.
