Doomben race track is located in Ascot about 7 kilometres from the Brisbane city centre and has been home to racing there since 1933 and is also referred to as the 'Garden' course due to the lovely gardens located around the track.
In 1996, a new modern drainage system was installed, which provides excellent drainage when the track receives heavy rains. It is home to the Brisbane Racing Club.
The Brisbane Racing Club came about following a merger between the Brisbane Turf Club (BTC), which raced at Doomben, and the Queensland Turf Club (QTC), who operated Eagle Farm. The official commencing date of the Brisbane Racing Club was the 1st of July 2009.
Doomben previously operated under the banner of the the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club, which was formed in 1923 and predominantly responsible for the then Albion Park racecourse (now a trotting venue). In 1933, the Brisbane Amateur club took over Doomben, which was the old Doomben Park Recreation Grounds Ltd. In 1997, the Club changed its name to become the Brisbane Turf Club (BTC).
