The RJ Peters Stakes is a quality handicap over 1500m and provides an ideal lead up race to the major event of the Perth summer racing carnival, the Group 1 Railway Stakes over 1600m the following week at the same track. Scales Of Justice (2016) is the most recent galloper to snare the RJ Peters Stakes and Railway Stakes double.
Earlier carnival races such as the Gr3 Asian Beau Stakes are ideal lead ups to the RJ Peters Stakes, while any gallopers from this event who are looking for more distance may head towards a race like the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic in December, also at Ascot.
Freo (2018) took out a BM66+ race over 1400m at Ascot before winning this event in stylish fashion for the Daniel O'Connor stable. Recent RJ Peters Stakes winners include Properantes (2017) and Scales Of Justice (2016).
