The Ming Dynasty Quality is a quality handicap event for three-year-olds only and suits those 3yo gallopers who may have contested a race like the Gr3 Up And Coming Stakes earlier in the month at Randwick. In recent times, Danawi (2018), Panzer Division (2014) and Tatra (2012) have all placed in the Up And Coming Stakes before winning the Ming Dynasty Quality.
Emerging three-year-olds who can beat the handicapper are suited to this race. It provides the ideal lead-up race to the Gr2 Stan Fox Stakes at Rosehill later in the month. A race like the Gr3 Newcastle Spring Stakes at Newcastle is another option and Aramayo (4th in 2018) won the Spring Stakes at his next start.
Quick Thinker (2019) took out the Listed Champagne STakes over 1600m at Ellerslie in New Zealand before crossing the Tasman to win this event in sterling fashion for Kiwi training duo Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman.
