The Kingston Town Stakes is a handicap event over 2000m that provides the ideal follow up race to the listed Premier's Cup held the previous month Rosehill and the race itself tends to attract handy stayers rather than the upper echelon. He's Your Man (2014) finished third in the Premier's Cup before tasting success in thsi event.
Horses who run well in this race will likely towards the Randwick carnival and races such as the Gr2 Colin Stephen Quality and Group 1 The Metropolitan, as they provide a logical step up in distance and are raced under simliar handicap conditons.
Lamasery (2011) managed to claim the Kingston Town Stakes & Colin Stephen Quality double, while Railings (2nd in 2005) won the Colin Stephen Quality after finishing runner-up in this event and then went on to win The Metropolitan and Group 1 Caulfield Cup. Deane Martin (3rd in 2014) and Julienas (3rd in 2013) both won the Colin Stephen Quality at their next start.
Smart stayer Herculian Prince (2010) took out The Metropolitan at Randwick after winning this race and the Kingston Town Stakes provides a more than handy guide to upcoming staying races taking place during the Sydney spring carnival.
Finche (2019) ran fifth to Samadoubt in the Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes over 1600m at Randwick before scoring a stylish on pace victory in this event for ther Chris Waller stable.
