This race has been run as 'The Schweppervescence' in recent years and takes place on Group 1 Tancred Stakes day on the final day of the three-day Golden Slipper Festival.

The TL Baillieu Handicap is raced over a distance of 1400 metres and the handicap conditions of this race suits improving two-year-olds who can beat the handicapper and get in with a light weight.
Suiting those 2yo gallopers who might not be up the high pressure scamper of the feature race of the day, the Golden Slipper Stakes, the TL Baillieu Handicap provides the ideal lead up to the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes over 1600m on the final day of the Sydney autumn racing carnival at Randwick.
Both Skilled (2010) and Onemorenomore (2009) won the TL Baillieu Handicap on their way to winning the ATC Champagne Stakes while prior to that Mentality (2006) took out both races.
Bellevue Hill (2019) finished runner-up on the Group 2 Todman Stakes over 1200m at Randwick before leading all the way to win this event in stylish fashion for the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott stable.
