ATC Champagne Stakes
The ATC Champagne Stakes is a Group 1 race for two-year-olds that is held annually in April at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1600 metres under set weight conditions and worth $500,000 in prize money. The 2020 ATC Champagne Stakes was won by King's Legacy from Glenfiddich with Ole Kirk third.
Held on the final Saturday of the Sydney autumn racing carnival, the ATC Champagne Stakes takes place on the same day as the Group 1 All Aged Stakes at weight-for-age.

The ATC Champagne Stakes is the final 2yo group race of the autumn in Sydney and the 1600m trip provides a natural progression for those two-year-olds who previously contested the Group 1 ATC Sires Produce Stakes over 1400m earlier in the carnival at the same track.
The Sires has been a great guide to this race in recent times with Guelph (2013), Pierro (2012), Helmet (2011), Dance Hero (2004), Hasna (2003), Victory Vein (2002), Viscount (2001), Assertive Lad (2000) all winning the Sires Produce & Champagne Stakes double, while Skilled (2010), Samantha Miss (2008) & Meurice (2007) all ran second in the Sires Produce Stakes before winning this event.
Quite often the race can unearth a quality type who may go on to bigger and better things, such as Manhattan Rain (3rd in 2009), who travelled to Melbourne the following spring and finished runner-up behind So You Think in the Group 1 WS Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
Brilliant Gai Waterhouse colt Pierro (2012) took out the Sydney autumn 2yo triple crown when he won the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes, ATC Sires Produce Stakes and ATC Champagne Stakes in a sizzling autumn campaign.
Castelvecchio (2019) finished third in the ATC Sires Produce Stakes over 1400m at Randwick before scoring a comfortable victory in this event for the Richard Litt stable at Warwick Farm.
Recent ATC Champagne Stakes winners include Seabrook (2018) and The Mission (2017).
