Red Roses Stakes
The Red Roses Stakes is a Group 3 race for 3yo fillies held at Flemington racecourse each year during the Melbourne spring racing carnival in November. The race is run over a distance of 1000 metres under set weight plus penalties conditions and is worth $300,000 in prize money. The 2019 Red Roses Stakes was won by Sisstar from Niccovi with California Zimbol third.
Formerly a listed event, the race was upgraded to Group 3 status for the 2014/2015 racing season and was most recently run as the 'Crown Resorts Plate' The Red Rose Stakes takes place on Group 1 VRC Oaks day on the third day of the four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The Red Roses Stakes is a nice little sprint race for three-year-old fillies only and typically assembles a big field of evenly matched females where finding the winner can be a bit of a minefield for punters.
The weighted conditions of the race favours the better class fillies going around and any gallopers with straight track experience and an affinity for the course are the ones to watch out for when doing the form.
Bleu Roche (2019) ran fourth in the Gr3 Red Anchor Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley before proving too classy for her rivls in this event for the Peter & Paul Snowden stable.
