Liverpool City Cup
The Liverpool City Cup is a Group 3 open handicap race held in late February or early March at Randwick racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1300 metres and worth $150,000 in prize money. The 2020 Liverpool City Cup was won by Quackerjack from Vegadaze with Rock third.
Held on Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes day during the Sydney autumn racing carnival, the winner of this race is exempt from ballot and penalty for the Doncaster Handicap.

The Liverpool City Cup is a quality handicap that tends to attract more than handy sprinters and the 1300m distance of the race lends itself to horses who can finish strongly over 1200m or those unable to run out a strong 1400m.
Horses contesting this race may come via the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes which is run under the same conditions and Terravista (2014) was the last horse to win both races in the same year, while The Free Stater (2007) was the most recent before that.
A race such as the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap run under similar conditons may be next on the agenda for horses competing this event.
Guy Walter mare Skyerush (2013) had a very good autumn return after winning this race, taking out the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude and Group 3 Emancipation Stakes later in the carnival.
Quackerjack (2020) resumed from a spell to score an impressive win in this event for Randwick trainer Mark Newnham.
