The Birthday Card Stakes is a Group 3 quality handicap race for fillies & mares that takes place each year in March at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1200 metres and worth $150,000 in prize money. The 2020 Birthday Card Stakes was won by Miss Exfactor from Connemara with Bangkok third.
Held on the same day as the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and Group 1 George Ryder Stakes, the Birthday Card Stakes is held during the Sydney autumn racing carnival.

The Birthday Card Stakes is a fillies & mares quality handicap that typically attracts more than handy types suited to the handicap conditions of the race. The better mares engaged will be carrying high weights which makes the task of winning much tougher than if it were raced at level weights. Improving fillies & mares that can get into the race on the limit, or can beat the handicapper, will be attractive betting propositions.
Occasionally a top class filly or mare might tackle this event, but it is generally not a race for the elite females, with winners and placegetters simply being above average types who may continue to a race like the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes on the second day of 'The Championship's at Randwick. In recent times, Arinosa (2013) took out the Birthday Card Stakes & Sapphire Stakes double, while Beaded (2nd in 2010) and Miss Stellabelle (3rd in 2013) managed to run placings in both races. Court (3rd in 2009) claimed the Sapphire Stakes after running third in this race.
Avantage (2019) took out the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes over 1200m at Hastings in New Zealand before heading to Australia to continue his outstanding winning form for the Jamie Richards stable in Matamata.
