The Rosehill Guineas is a Group 1 race for three-year-olds held annually in late March at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 2000 metres under set weight conditions and worth $600,000 in prize money. The 2020 Rosehill Guineas was won by Castelvecchio from Prince Fawaz with Reloaded third.
Rosehill Guineas Day is held on the first day of the Rosehill autumn carnival and offers a number of quality feature races, including the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes, Group 1 George Ryder Stakes and Group 1 The Galaxy.

The Rosehill Guineas is a good horse's race and one of the better three-year-old events during the Sydney autumn racing carnival and is the first test at 2000m for three-year-olds at the elite level. The Group 1 Randwick Guineas is the logical lead up to this race.
Classy gallopers The Autumn Sun (2019), It's A Dundeel (2013) & Metal Bender (2009) have all taken out the Randwick Guineas & Rosehill Guineas double in recent years, while a number of horses have managed to either win or place in both races.
Many of our very best three-year-olds have won the Rosehill Guineas including It's A Dundeel, Jimmy Choux (2011), Metal Bender (2009), Sky Heights (1999), Tie The Knot (1998), Octagonal (1996), Danewin (1995), Naturalism (1992) and Sky Chase (1988).
The Guineas is the first real staying test for three-year-olds in group one class and is often a good pointer to the premier 3yo event of the autumn, the Group 1 ATC Australian Derby over 2400m later in the month at Randwick. In recent times It's A Dundeel (2013), Eremein (2005) and Sky Heights (1999) have all take out the Rosehill Guineas & ATC Derby double.
Interestingly enough, Sacred Halls (2nd in 2013) managed to take out the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap at Randwick at his next start following his second place finish in this race.
The Autumn Sun (2019) captured the Randwick Guineas over 1600m at Randwick before pulling out all stops to win this event in tenacious style for the Chris Waller stable.
