A crowd of 81,408 people attended Flemington Racecourse to witness the Danny O'Brien trained Vow And Declare win the 2019 Melbourne Cup.
Australian-bred Vow And Declare, ridden by leading jockey Craig Williams, defeated the Charlie Fellows trained Prince Of Arran into second place, with Michael Walker aboard the runner-up. In third place was Il Paradiso from the Aidan O'Brien stable and ridden by Wayne Lordan.
It was Craig William's first win in the coveted race, and also for trainer Danny O'Brien. The winner jumped from barrier 21 in the 24-horse field.
