Sunshine Coast Guineas
The Sunshine Coast Guineas is a Group 3 race for three-year-olds held each year in May at the Sunshine Coast racecourse on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The race is run over a distance of 1600 metres and is worth $125,000 in prize money. The 2020 Sunshine Coast Guineas was won by Wapiti from Knight Mariner with Love Express third.
Previously a listed event, the Sunshine Coast Guineas was upgraded to Group 3 status for the 2013/2014 racing season and takes place alongside the listed Caloundra Cup, Glasshouse Classic & Bruce McLachlan Classic on Caloundra Cup day.
The Sunshine Coast Turf Club races at Corbould Park racecourse which is around an hour north of Brisbane and a few minutes away from Caloundra. The Caloundra Cup Carnival was first held in 1985 and has grown to become a stand-alone Saturday metropolitan meeting during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival.

The Sunshine Coast Guineas is a set weights race for three-year-olds that usually assembles a field of predominantly local gallopers and level weight conditions gives the better quality gallopers a clear advantage.
Earlier carnival races such as the Gr3 Gunsynd Classic at the Gold Coast or the listed Daybreak Lover Stakes at Eagle Farm are ideal lead up races to the Sunshine Coast Guineas as they are both three-year-old events run under the same distance and conditions. Hopfgarten (2014) was the last three-year-old to snare the Gunsynd Classic & Sunshine Coast Guineas double.
Champion mare Winx (2015) won this race as a three-year-old, taking out the Gr1 ATC Oaks at Randwick in Sydney before winning this race in stylish fashion.
Baccarat Baby (2019) finished unplaced in the Gr1 Tatt's Tiara over 1400m at Eagle Farm before scoring an easy victory in this event for local trainer David Vandyke.
Recent Sunshine Coast Guineas winners include The Bostonian (2018) and Crack Me Up (2017).
