Vamos Stakes
The Vamos Stakes is a Group 3 race for fillies & mares only that that takes place each February at Launceston racecourse in Launceston, Tasmania during the Tasmanian summer racing carnival. The race is run over a distance of 1400 metres under weight-for-age conditions and worth $125,000 in prize money. The 2020 Vamos Stakes was won by Deroche from Miss Mandito with Jentico third.
Upgraded to Group 3 status for the 2013/2014 racing season, the Vamos Stakes also had a prize money increase to $125,000 along the way. It's now held on a Sunday, three days before Group 3 Launceston Cup day, the city's biggest race day of the year.

The Vamos Stakes is a fillies & mares only race that was first run in 2007, and the recent spate of good quality fields has resulted in the race being upgraded in line with its above benchmark ratings over the past few years.
Classy Tasmanian mare Lady Lynette is a three-time winner of this race, scoring her first victory in 2009, before scoring back-to-back wins in 2011 & 2012.
The best lead-up race for the Vamos Stakes is the Group 3 Bow Mistress trophy at Hobart earlier in the month and Lady Lynette was the last mare to win both races in 2011.
Deroche (2020) took out a 3YO & 4YO race over 1400m at Launceston before scoring a classy on pace victory in this event for Spreyton trainer Leanne Gaffney.
Recent Vamos Stakes winners include Twitchy Frank (2019) and Life On The Wire (2018).
