The Silver Slipper Stakes is a Group 2 race for two-year-olds that takes place in late February or early March each year at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales. The race is run over a distance of 1100 metres under set weight conditions and worth $250,000 in prize money. The 2020 Silver Slipper Stakes was won by Farnan from Global Quest with North Pacific third.
The Group 2 Hobartville Stakes for three-year-olds & Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes for mares are held on the same day as the Silver Slipper Stakes.

The Silver Slipper Stakes is the first group race of the Sydney autumn racing carnival for both male and female two-year-olds and provides a good springboard for any youngsters with their eye on the premier 2yo race of the autumn, the $3.5 Million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes in April. She Will Reign (2017) and Mossfun (2014) are the most recent two-year-olds to win the Silver Slipper Stakes & Golden Slipper Stakes double.
Raced over the sprint distance of 1100, the Silver Slipper Stakes offers a good hit out for two-year-olds planning to tackle upcoming 1200m races on their way to the Golden Slipper.
Races such as the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (F) and Group 2 Skyline Stakes (C&G) at Warwick Farm or the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (F) and Group 2 Todman Stakes (C&G) at Randwick will all be on the agenda for two-year-olds contesting this event, as they are raced over the same distance as the Golden Slipper Stakes.
Smart filly Sweet Idea (2013) went on to run third in the Golden Slipper Stakes after winning this event and she also managed to win the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas the following January at the Gold Coast racecourse in Queensland.
Farnan (2020) finished unplaced in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200m at the Gold Coast racecourse in Queensland before scoring a slashing victory in this event for the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott stable.
